Welcome, you can find some short videos and images of my work here.
Before I became a full time ceramicist I worked as a ships captain in San Francisco for many years. Today my affinity with the Ocean is reflected in my ceramic vessels. My work emulates Atlantic seascapes discovered while kayaking the local County Cork Atlantic coastline of South West Ireland.
Each piece below is named and some contain found materials from the place that inspired it.
Im very fortunate to have a studio is located in the centre of Cork City at Backwater Artist Studios on Wandesford Quay. Pictured here are some images of my primary research at Sea. This wall of imagery in the studio aids the translation of textures, natural colour tones and the dynamic forces of nature into my sculpture.
This is a short video that depicts the research and process of creating the clay body for one of my sculptural ceramic vessels.
During Cork Craft Month of August 2020 I had the pleasure of collaborating and exhibiting my work with Craft Northern Ireland in their exhibition titled Unlocked . The Craft Gallery of Northern Ireland on Royal Avenue, Belfast were wonderful hosts and kindly produced this short and dramatic video of my sculpture Dunny Cove.
